Chesapeake Region Ovarian Cancer Community Education | Thursday, June 26, 2025

Hosted by the Chesapeake Region of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC), this program is designed specifically for ovarian cancer survivors and their caregivers. Participants will gain valuable insights into recent advancements in ovarian cancer care, learn evidence-based nutrition strategies to support healing and wellness, and receive practical tools to manage side effects and improve quality of life. This program aims to help you navigate your journey with confidence and support.

Breakfast and snacks will be provided; the program is complimentary to ovarian cancer survivors and caregivers.

Parking Instructions: A parking garage is beneath the VTRC-A (900 N. Glebe Road). The garage entrance is off Ninth Street at the corner of Glebe Road.  Please bring your parking tickets to the event, and we will validate your parking for the program. The garage is managed by Laz Parking (703-243-7281).

Clinical Updates: Emerging Trends in Ovarian Cancer Treatments

Dr. Ebony Hoskins, MD, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, with 14 years of experience in providing expert care to women, particularly in the field of gynecologic cancers. A Michigan native, Dr. Hoskins earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine before completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She then expanded her expertise through basic science and translational research at the National Cancer Institute, collaborating with renowned ovarian cancer researcher Dr. Elise Kohn. Dr. Hoskins further honed her skills with a clinical fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Hoskins offers comprehensive care across the full spectrum of gynecologic oncology, including diagnosis, surgery, adjuvant treatment, and survivorship. She is dedicated to providing innovative treatment options to her patients in the Washington, DC, area and plays a key role in advancing gynecologic oncology clinical trials at her institution.

A respected member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the National Medical Association, Dr. Hoskins has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Northern Virginia and by Washingtonian magazine for her commitment to exceptional patient care.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Hoskins enjoys honing her photography skills, traveling to new destinations, and creating lasting memories with her husband, Jimmy, and their only child, Genesis.

Wellness on the Menu: Food as Fuel for Survivorship

Join oncology dietitian Marion Biggs in learning about nutrition and ovarian cancer. We will review nutrition recommendations during active treatment and discuss evidence-based guidelines for survivorship nutrition. There will be a Q&A session to get all your questions answered at the end!


Marion Biggs is a registered dietitian certified in oncology nutrition (CSO) and nutrition support (CNSC). She completed her undergraduate program at the University of Maryland and her dietetic internship with Virginia Tech. She has been a dietitian for almost 5 years in the Washington, DC area and has specialized in oncology specifically for the last 3 years. She works primarily with the gynecology, hematology, stem cell transplant, and pediatric cancer patient populations. Marion is passionate about oncology nutrition and looks forward to advancing the field through research and collaboration with other oncology dietitians.
